Our karate system is based on repetition because we believe that repetition will lead to a better understanding of karate.
However, when a karate class contains too many concepts and movements, or the student thinks about too many things, it¹s easy to miss the main principles and only focus attention on the sequence. This will result in little or no progress for the karate student.
In order to avoid this, set a clear purpose for each karate class. Try to be aware of your strong, developing and weak points, making goals for improvement at each training session. After each training analyze yourself, and use this feedback to help you improve.
Your satisfaction and understanding of karate will increase and you will gain a sense of accomplishment.
With time, you will find it easier to make up a plan for your own training. Reflecting on your own performance and planning for your daily training will bring you more determination and a desire to achieve higher levels of performance.
It will also provide you with a sense of continuation in your training, and karate will become more challenging.
